I’ve been laid up sick the past few days. What would be sick days without “binge watching?” I’ve been watching “The Handmaid’s Tale” on Hulu. I started it because I’m curious about the books and quickly got sucked in. I just heard the most profound quote I think I’ve ever heard. “There are two kinds of freedoms. Freedom from… and Freedom to..”
Instantly I thought of present day society. You really can’t have both. You either have freedom from something, or freedom to do something. Every choice has a consequence. Do we think about those? In a country, that as of late, seems so “me” minded… we don’t. We have for gotten that, “Your rights stop where someone else’s starts.” Everyone is so caught up on the freedom TO, that we forget freedom FROM. Or is it the other way around?
Food for thought,
Jenn
